Phoenix Canariensis (Canary Island Palm)
Phoenix Canariensis is the best known of the Mediterranean palms. It will also grow happily outside in England, Wales and Ireland.
To grow this plant successfully you should choose a large specimen, because they will be more able to withstand frosts. These palms do not like wet Winter weather. If you decide to wrap this plant during cold weather it is important to use a porous material for the wrapping. It may be easier to bring it into a glasshouse or conservatory for the winter.
