Agave Americana (Century Plant)
Agave Americana or The Century Plant is originally from Mexico but is now common worldwide. The leaves are grey/green in colour and have spikes. The leaves can reach 2m in length. This plant needs little water and can resist temperatures of -5 Celsius. Agave Americana prefers a well drained site/pot with good sunlight. If planted in a pot use John Innes number 3 with lots of extra grit. When feeding be careful not to place plant food on the leaves. This plant can tolerate cold conditions but not being waterlogged. This is an ideal plant for a sheltered garden. It creates a striking specimen and is easily cared for. The spines on the leaves are sharp and should be avoided. | Plant Height (cm) | 40 |
